Yes, the tragedy is heart breaking. But have we, as the human society, done justice to the purpose that Life has given to us? Our purpose was meant to fulfill the need to love ourselves and others, and live a life of simplicity and devotion.
What have we done instead? We fanned greed all over the world. We took things for granted. As a result, the collective consciousness has been polluted over a period of time. Now that the fertile ground of negativity has spread, the terror is let loose all over. Who is responsible? Is it just the terrorists? We are also responsible, each citizen, each nation, in this world.
It is time we come back to ourselves and took a look inside ourselves, to find that the ultimate source of disruption in the world is within us, that is, in our own mind. We are inimical with our own mind. We surrender to all sorts of negative thoughts, and keep fanning them until things go out of our control. Is that not a kind of terrorism of the self, by the self?
Let us wake to the call of the Universe at this hour, going beyond all sectarian views of the religions, and work for a universal spiritualism that would create human Beings out of humans. Let us work for peace by beginning first with ourselves. No politician in the world can give peace to anyone in this world. It is a gift that only you can give to yourself. I can give peace to myself, and we can all give peace to ourselves, through the practice of prayers and meditation.
We can do a great world-changing service by just worshiping our own breath, which has no religion. There is no Hindu breath, no Christian breath, no Buddhist breath, breath is Universal. Just watch your breath with all your heart in it, witness the universe flowing through you, blessing you from within and without. Healing the world all around.
You and I cannot fight against terrorism unless we first stop the disruption in our own mind. The process of healing our minds would ripple over to the other, and the other, and the other. Eventually, it will spread everywhere to envelop the entire world in peace.
