Making Your Mind Your Best Friend

One more challenging year is almost over, the holiday season and music is in the air. Celebration is all around, for celebration is the nature of the Soul.

When the fisher man came back without a catch and was depressed, Jesus said to the fisher man, Go, and cast your net on the right. The fisher man did it, and had an unbelievable haul. Earlier he had taken the boat to the same place but when he cast the net on the left nothing came other than frustrations.

Let us heed the words of the Master, for the Christmas and the New Year, let us celebrate moment to moment by being alert, aware and conscious of the Gift that is life. Let us always cast our net on the right. Let us always have the "right" attitude to life. For, to me right is right. Right attitude is balanced attitude, which creates a Positive Aura and attracts all that is good and blissful to our life.

In the continuum of time and life, there is no last year and no new year; there is only the moment alive to the one who is alive and vibrant.

Q&A: Q: Baba, what is the best kind of New Year’s Resolutions to make to enhance one’s spiritual life?

A. Be mindful and aware of when you are in the grip of attachment, of when you are expecting a certain outcome to your New Year’s Resolutions. If you make a resolution, then make it with a light, meditative heart, with the only goal that you will try to let go of all attachment to the outcome. Enjoy the journey through the next year. Don't ask for things to be done your way. Give to others instead. Don't place conditions and waste energy on expectations. Rather, un-condition yourself, empty yourself and the Cup of Life will be Full without you even knowing it happened!!

In the spiritual path too may "questions" come into mind. Am I doing it right? How far have I come? How far do I have to travel? When am I going to reach my destination?

One of the simplest path to come to a peaceful state is to rise above 'reactions' and live moment to moment in 'response' mode. Reactions are the consequences of how we think and feel about the situations and circumstances of life daily. It is your philosophy, habits, and mental and emotional patterns which dictate your thoughts, and you keep reacting to situations. In this the ego plays the dominant role for the conditioned mind is reactive. It is very consistent too. You do the same thing again and again!

In contrast,response flows out of your deeper understanding of the way of life, response flows out of compassion, empathy and letting go.It guides your path, and there is no preconceived notion, but only your alertness to respond to situations and not react.

When you are responsive you are inconsistent. A sage is responsive. A seer is responsive. Hence they are very inconsistent, just flowing in the moment. It is not the situations which command a consistent pattern any more, for the pattern disappears with the dawn of the Sun of Awareness. Now you respond or rather flow as the Universe demands, not as your conditions demand.

However, I would not say, don't react. That is a wrong suggestion. Don't tell the darkness go away. Just light a lamp, and darkness disappears. Light the lamp of Awareness in your heart, glorify the Doer within, and let response flow and reactions disappear setting you Free from pains and agonies which are the aftermath of a reactive life of ignorance.

Let go, Let God, Glow.

So many believers of God belonging to diverse faith traditions for centuries, ask the question "If God is there then why can't i see Him/Her?" Even Mother Teresa reportedly suffered with doubts about God, and her faith trembled!!

But very few followers of God ask a more tangible question "Where am i"? instead of "Where is God"?

We get exhausted asking questions and searching the scriptures on google to know about God and His Grace and His Divine Play centuries and millenniums back, but don't have time to search within, just to find "where am i"? We need to find that person that we truly are and it is definitely not the one society knows with the status and cars, designer clothes and glamour. The concept of 'me' 'mine' does not answer that!

Who is this imposter and trouble maker? Who is this who is creating the hell in a world that seems to be at peace with itself, left to the Nature. Yes, my dear friends in the spirit, if you don't find this culprit, no amount of knowledge and possessions and fake securities of life will rob from your heart the 'regrets' that haunt you!!

You have to find your true self first, for no one can eat for you and digest and metabolize and energize your body!! You have to eat, you have to digest and you have to energize your body and find 'health' by finding the true self within, not the false ego.

Contemplate deeply, if man is not in this world, would there be anything like past and future? Could there be past for the earth and future for the earth? Past and future, is it something to do with "Time"? Or is it something to do with "Mind"? If it is related to time, then in deep meditation or in a state of Samadhi where do the past and future disappear to? Does it not prove that past and future remain as long as we are identified with the mind? Mind divides time, into past and future? But is there truly any division in Time?

When the mind is stilled and is silent through meditation time stops ticking! At that time where is your past and your future? At that state of no-mind, past and future drop, creating space for the only reality, the ecstatic "Present". That is the present or gift we are born to give to ourselves every day, every moment by living in the present and in the Nowness.
