We all have casual acquaintances and very intimate friendships in all our lives. We know the difference. In our family there are many close and distant relationships and our feeling for each one of them is different. We know it.
The fact is, true knowing is not just superficial, theoretical or intellectual. It is something much closer and deeper than that. It is “knowing from our heart, from our Being.” In the world of spirituality let us not so much bother about the intellectual understanding of cosmology or the origin of species and satisfy our ego, but let us come to the fundamental quest of life, our own Self.
There are people who come to me and say that they find so much peace and joy but when they are back to their own space, they miss it. It is because when they come to me, for a while their ego is suspended, and their Being is available to them. They only taste their own Self, and think it is from me.
Intellectual understanding, theoretical debates are needed but that is the beginning. We need to cross that and go little deeper to quench our thirst through 'feeling' and 'experience'. Till that art is learned you will have to go somewhere to find what you are looking for, but once you feel the ultimate relationship of 'self' with 'Self' the unwanted starts to drop off, and you feel less burdened, for the SELF, the Divine Within, takes over the reins of your chariot. That is the journey from asat to sat, from self to Self. From darkness to Light Eternal, from the shadow of death to the sun of immortality. Knowingly or unknowingly we all are moving toward THAT.
